Family & Loved-ones Support
Support for Those Affected by a Loved One’s Addiction, Eating Disorder or Mental Illness.
Supporting someone through mental health difficulties can feel overwhelming and confusing. You may worry about saying the wrong thing or feel unsure how to help, these feelings are completely natural.
Addiction, eating disorders and mental health challenges affects the whole family, and while your loved one’s journey matters, so does your own wellbeing. A key part of recovery is maintaining connection without pushing your loved one away or enabling harmful behaviours. I can help you explore ways to support them while also looking after yourself.
Lived Experience, Held Professionally
Alongside my professional qaulifications and experience working in addiction agencies, I also bring lived experience of supporting loved ones through addiction. I understand the heartbreak, uncertainty and emotional toll it can have on families, and how isolating it can feel. My personal experience doesn't replace professional expertise, it deepens my empathy, compassion and understanding, allowing me to support you with both knowledge and genuine insight.
Family support offers a space for you — separate from the person struggling — where your experiences, needs and boundaries matter.
You may be supporting someone who is:
-
Actively using substances or addictive behaviours
-
Suffering with an eating disorder or mental health problem
-
In treatment, rehab or recovery
-
Relapsing or ambivalent about change
You don’t need to have all the answers - your care and presence already make a meaningful difference to your loved one.
Family support can help you:
-
Understand and learn about addiction, eating disorders and mental health problems
-
Gain tools to better support your loved one, whilst also protecting yourself
-
Exploring the impact it may be having on your relationship together
-
Understand the recovery process
-
Process the emotional impact its having on you
-
Explore boundaries, codependency, and responsibility
-
Process grief, anger, fear, or guilt
-
Reduce burnout and emotional overload
-
Reconnect with your own needs and wellbeing
This work is not about blame or fixing anyone. It is about supporting you, strengthening emotional resilience, and helping you navigate complex situations with greater clarity and self-compassion.
